Description

This course will provide the requisite middle school knowledge of the growth and development of the middle school age student to include emotional, physical and mental characteristics and needs. Management of middle school students will be discussed in relation to being able to use a variety of instructional strategies learned from either elementary or secondary methods courses to modify for use with middle school age students. Specific middle school scenarios and management situations will also be discussed in relation to unique middle school management techniques. A minimum of 30 clock hours will be spent observing and/or assisting in a middle school setting. Prerequisites: EDU 110 and admittance to the Teacher Education Program
