Description
This general methods course helps to prepare students for teaching in secondary schools. Students learn about various effective instructional strategies and methods for planning and delivering lessons as well as an introduction to the assessment of student learning and classroom management. Students develop a ten day interdisciplinary thematic unit that includes appropriate goals, objectives, activities, materials list, and assessment plans with associated artifacts as expressed through daily lesson plans. Students teach a lesson from the unit. Students become conversant with the Iowa Teaching Standards. Prerequisite: EDU 110, and admittance to the Teacher Education Program.
